Kaliedoscope progress...

Its been one of those quilts where you don't have a plan.  You do one step, sit back and look at it before deciding what to do next.

I had original thoughts of doing a pieced border.  But after trimming the blocks I ended up with 7 3/4" squares.  These became a hugh problem for working out the maths for the border.  After several attempts I ended up giving up.

As a result, I split the outer border with a thin piped edging, enhancing the borders around each block and I love it.  I think afterall, the blocks themselves are the center piece of this quilt and a piece border would have spoilt it.

What do you think?

Thinking that I'll hand quilt this one.  Maybe trace a template design around borders...

any ideas?

Oh my this is LOVELY - I agree, the plain borders really set the blocks off and how they shine! Love it! Yes, I would hand quilt, not a clue how but I'm sure your mum will come up with something, lol!

Wow - totally incredible! I absolutely love the red corners and your flanges - stunning! I'm sure which ever way you quilt it will only enhance it's beauty!
Cheers!

I love the way you finished this quilt. A pieced border would have drawn attention away from the gorgeous blocks. Lots of space for lovely hand quilting.
