BUNTINGS...

Its been a while, I know.  Kind of been busy doing the other things (working, housework and most importantly, being a mum to my three kids).  Who ever said it's gets easier as they get older,  I seem to do nothing else but play taxi - bring on the drivers licences I say.

Anyhow, I have managed just a few things in the last couple of months and thought it was time to share.

Firstly, a birthday bunting.  I've taken a liking to these just lately as they seem to all the craze on the Internet lately.  The fabric is just good ol' Spotlight fabric, I think it's come up a real treat.  A really good friend of mine, Tamsin cut me a perspex template which made things so much easier.  The letters I printed off my computer on to paper, in which I then transferred onto thick card and cut out with a scalpel, the best thing now is I can easily use the templates over and over.  And, then the best part, I done Blanket stitch around them, it's the first time I've ever done it on my machine (I'm usually one for the good ol' hand stitching), but I thought it came up quite well.

So here we have it...

Blogger's Quilt Festival Spring 2011

Now is the time...  It's been a while since my last post, it's not that I don't get on and check out everyone elses', I just feel I don't have the time to do my own, sooooooooo....here we go, this one is for
Amys' Bloggers' Quilt Festival Spring 2011.

I made this quilt November 2010 and haven't as yet shared it with blogland, till now.

I wanted to create something of my own which would express the things I love...
 HEARTS...ROSES...& INSPIRATIONAL WORDS...

I actually designed this quilt with the thought that I would raffle it to raise money for Relay For Life.  Hence the inspirational blocks.  I wanted something that would be suitable for someone who had been touched in someway by an illness would give them comfort in so many ways.
The pharmacy I was working with at the time had entered a team in the previous fundraising advent and I was mainly responsible for raising money at that time.  However, the staff had since decided not to enter in the next one and I was unsure what I would do with the finished product.

Each block was carefully put together with much thought to detail.  Designed on my computer, traced with a light box, embroidered and appliqued all by hand.  Then machine pieced together and finished off by hand quilting in the ditch.

"HOPE"
The broken heart pieced together

"COMFORT"
Let go and let fly

"WISH"
The good luck four leafed Clover

"LOVE"
The links of loved ones

Always have FAITH, STRENGTH & COURAGE

This quilt has a very special hold on me and I know that one day it will give back what I've put into it.  I learnt so much more than just improving my techniques of embroidery and quilting.  Its one of the first quilts that I designed myself, giving me the confidence that maybe one day I can spend more time coming up with my own designs and showing more of my creative side.

Quick post!

Oh, how time gets away.  Just wanted to do a real quick show and tell while I'm cooking tea.  Finished these this arfternoon and just love them.
You can have them this way...

Or, this way...

Or, my favourite way, with a cuppa and bickies!!!

What do you think?  I just love how they can sit as a center piece on my table just waiting for friends to come on over.

Ok, time to attend to tea

Makes for March

Has it really been two weeks since my last post?  That's just dreadful!!  Although, I must say it's been a very mixed past two weeks.

Firstly, if you read my previous post you would be aware that my Nanna G was having her 90th birthday and my mum, sister and I had all taken part in making her a lap quilt.  We celebrated with a family get together Sunday last at the nursing home.  Nanna had been really starting to slip and she managed to sleep through the whole event.  Never mind we where there for her.  Her actual birthday was on the Tuesday and she made it!  90 years, sadly though she past on the Wednesday evening.  The funeral was on Monday and it was really lovely.  We placed her quilt over the casket during the service and now mum has the pleasure of looking after it for her.  My nanna was a very crafty lady and I've learn't many things from her over the years.

So, with that these are my makes for March...
Mothers' Day...

Nanna's 90th Birthday (joint effort)...
You may remember I won this...

And turned it into these...

And my favourite...
finished last night just in the nick of time to post today.

It's a good life...

It's a good life, new job, finish at 2pm, 5 minute drive home, house is quiet and peaceful, Mia is excited to see me, enough time to get out of uniform, sit and enjoy coffee before I head off to collect Kaitlyn from school.  Did I mention it's a good life!!!

Then it gets even better... home for arvo and time to sew and look what I've just finished.
This one's for the Mother-in-law who's never really taken much notice of my craft, however after visiting her the other day and found her on the lounge wrapped up in her dressing gown I figured maybe she'd put a lap quilt to good use! So away it goes for now till Mother's Day.

You may recall my mum, sister and I were working together to make a lap quilt for my nana's 90th birthday, well here it is...
VERY PRETTY...
Mum's VERY CLEVER...
YEAH, like REALLY CLEVER...wish my machine could do that!!!

Did I mention it's a good life...
Look what the postie delivered the other day...

Ahhhhhhhh!!

NEW JOB!!

Well I can honestly say it's been a big week, full of a whole eray of emotions.  Firstly things haven't been going real well at my current job so when the chance of a new job came, I decided to take it.  Sooo, yes I now have a NEW JOB and start there next Thursday.  Basically it's the same as what I have been doing but in a  new business.  It's been really difficult however to deal with all the emotions of leaving where I am and yet being excited about where I'm going.  Ok, now I fell like rambling on.

What a delite it was however to come home on Tuesday to discover the postie had let me a package (just what I needed, good timing postie!!!).
This is where it was from...
and this is what it was...

It's gorgeous, and me, I just love hearts!!  Thanks sooooo much to Caroline from Trillium for  my fantastic prize. Thanks, thanks, thanks...

Now decisions on what to make, not real sure yet however, I did get on to eBay only to find a matching panel, hence I'm now waiting on postie.

Actually postie's going to busy this week as I'm also waiting for issue 1 and issue 2 (don't tell the husband) of Vignette.

Exciting days ahead...

Vignette in Stitches Give Away!!

I have recently came accross the Vignette in Stitches blog and have fallen in love with it.  So checking out the lastest post tonight I discovered they are having a give away.  Yip hee, love give aways!  There are 15 fat quarters by Melly Hurlston used in one of the projects from issue 2.  Must admit I don't as yet have issue 1, went looking for it the other day, looks like I'll have to order it directly.

Off to place an order...
