Block 3 DONE!!!

It may seem I've been a little quiet lately, but don't let that fool you.  I've been busy...

I've been sewing a number of things for gifts recently which make it hard for me to share until now (well for a couple of them).

Firstly, a very dear friend of mine, Sheree, celebrated her 40th Birthday.  Over the last few years Sheree has been studying to become a Councillor by correspondence, whilst being mum to her two young kiddies and wife to hubby.  Finally at the beginning of this year her dream came true and she is now qualified.  Sheree is now on a path of starting her own business and I wish her all the success she so deserves.  So with business card in hand I decided I would create a 'one-off' for her...

 Sheree's reaction was golden when I gave it to her, just loves it, almost as much as I enjoyed making it.

Also, my hubbies parents are off on another cruise on Wednesday, so I came up with a couple of goodies for them to take with them...

A couple of Shoe bags and a scented Kashmiri Drop for the suitcases.  Rose Potpourri for her and Sandelwood for him.   I'm sure they'll be much appreciated after 21 days cruising.

I've also completed Block 3 of Jenny's of Elefantz BOM

Looking forward to tomorrow, when block 4 should be available.

Time to put the computer aside as the 'Craft ya guts out' girls are about to arrive for an evening of fun, laughs, chatter and oh, craft of course!!!

A little bit of this, and a little bit of that...

Gosh mojo slow down please, this is soooo unlike me.  I seem to have alot happening lately, so many projects on the go all at once, including some of which I can't share (secret pressies...will have to share another time).

What I can share is...

A start on Jenny's Promises and Borders BOM block 3

A couple of coasters to match my table center piece

And a couple of Kashmiri Drops from Leesa Chandler Designs.  Just love these..plan to do a few more..Christmas deco's, scented travel buddies, for the wardrobe, shoes...Ahhh, settle, settle...

This is what I made this afternoon, after work, picking kids up and whilst cooking tea.

BLOCK 1 DONE!!!

Just a quick post to show what I've been upto. 

After getting myself all organised for Jenny's BOM I've made a decent start and finished, YES finished, Block 1.

 

Oh, yes,  It does look slightly different than Jenny's as I wanted to add my own little touch to it and insert my own sayings.  (sure Jenny won't mind).  I've always loved the "Love is..." theme, as love can be described in so many ways.  And yes I've had plenty of help from my facebook friends with their ideas of what "love is...".  This one came from a dear old friend of mine who was glad to stand by my side when I was married 20 years ago,  so a HUGH Thank you to Kelly.

Can hardly wait to get started on Block 2, will share when I can.

Oh, MOJO, so nice to see you again!

Just a few weeks ago my Mum had spoke of a brand new Quilting Shop opening in the main street of her home town.  Having not dared to enter for fear of wanting to buy everything in there, I decided maybe she needed a little encouragement, and maybe someone to look after her purse!

Oh, Wow, wow wow wow!!!

Couldn't help myself,  had to make a purchase

(maybe mum should have looked after my purse!)



What beautiful fabrics, so fresh and modern.

  So here I am with my four little fat quarters and no idea what to make...

The floor is covered with magazines and quilting books with me in an almost mad panic trying to find something to do, determined I'd be starting something that night.

Then in my trusty 501 Quilt Blocks book I come across 'Snail Trail'. Perfect!  I'd seen a quilt made from these blocks not that long ago and admired it then.  Great, something quick and easy (sort of), and before I knew it my MOJO's back.

It's 8pm on Friday night and here I am cutting and sewing!

You know you've got your Mojo when  its late and time for bed and all you can think is, 'what if I do just one more little bit'

Then you come to this realisation that every one's gone to bed (some having to work the next day) and the sound of my machine trudging away wasn't going to down to well, besides there was no way I was going to get it finished that night.  So I off to bed I went with the brain still counting stitches.

 Nevermind, here I was 7.30 next morning back at it, before I knew it, it's lunchtime and I'm finished!

What do you think?  I love it, love the colours, love the size, love that it was a quick finish, just what I needed to get myself back into sewing.

Before I go just wanted to do a quick share,

An excited me has all my fabric and threads and is pleased to announce a start has been made!

Hello...MOJO are you in there?

Ok, I know...

I've been gone sooo long, you thought I wouldn't be back, and yet here I am. (It's only been 7 months...I've been busy!)

Between my family, school, their busy lives, work and me studying Cert III in Pharmacy Assistant and of course home, craft tends to be my least priority and the thing I struggle with the most.  You see, I've always considered craft time to be my 'wind down' time.  Quite obviously that hasn't been happening.  So here we are at the beginning of another new year and yes, my new years resolution, craft more!!! Hence 'wind down' more! = Happy Me!!!

So begs the question, "Where has my MOJO gone?"

How nice it is when things are in order.  Not quite how I want it, but hubby came up with this fantastic idea of building a storage cupboard in the end of the garage.  Was my idea couple of years ago, but you know how it is with men, you just have to be patient until it finally becomes their idea.  Not going to let this one go, hoping for quote next week!

I have managed to sew a few things over the last few months, with this blouse one of them.  Not too bad considering it's the first time I've attempted clothes.  A bit of unpicking and tweaking, (added a few darts to give it a bit more shape) and well, it's wearable.

So what else have we missed...?

My eldest daughters Year 10 Leavers Dinner...

Christmas...

 New Years...

And Australia Day...

Wow, time really does fly.  Hope I'm up-to-date now.
